The basics

What is DriveTrain?

A study app for the Russian driving-theory exam. It contains 800 multiple-choice questions organized as 40 papers of 20, each available in both Russian and English with a written explanation in both languages, plus practice drills, timed mock exams, and progress tracking. It works offline.

Who is it for?

Anyone studying Russian driving theory who wants the material in English, in Russian, or in both — particularly people who need to understand the question and the Russian terminology at the same time.

Why is it called Drive-Train on the App Store?

The App Store listing uses the hyphenated form. Everywhere else — the app itself, this site, and the Android build — the name is DriveTrain. It is the same product.

Who makes DriveTrain?

Independent developer Kanyanta Mubanga.

Languages

Is DriveTrain in English or Russian?

Both. Every question, every answer option, and every explanation exists in both languages, and you switch between them with one tap while looking at a question.

Can I study entirely in English?

Yes, completely. English is the default for both the interface and the question content, and all 800 explanations are available in English.

Can I see the Russian version of a question?

Yes — tap Русский above any question. The question, all answer options, and the explanation switch to Russian instantly, and your answers are preserved. Tap English to switch back.

Can I change the interface language inside the app?

No. The interface follows your device's language setting — Russian devices get the Russian interface, everything else gets English. The English / Русский switch inside a quiz applies to the question content.

Every interface language ships inside the app, so nothing needs downloading.

Does the language choice stick between sessions?

No. The in-quiz toggle starts on English each time you open a quiz or a review screen.

The questions

How many questions are there?

800, in 40 papers of 20 questions each. 548 of them include a photograph or diagram of a road situation.

Are these the official exam questions?

DriveTrain is an independent study app. Its questions cover Russian traffic rules, road signs, and driving situations, and the explanations reference the relevant traffic-regulation paragraphs. DriveTrain is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government body or examining authority.

Do the questions come with explanations?

Yes — every one of the 800, in both English and Russian, usually citing the specific traffic-regulation paragraph. The explanation becomes available once you have answered, so it does not give the answer away.

Can I practice by topic or category?

No. The papers are the only organizing structure. What you can do is repeat any paper, work through the questions you keep getting wrong, or practice the whole bank shuffled.

I think a question or a translation is wrong.

Please say so. Email reachkanyanta@gmail.com with the paper number and question number. Content corrections ship with app updates.

Practice and mock exams

How does the mock exam work?

It draws a fresh random set from the full bank, runs a countdown, and scores you against a pass mark. Answers are final once submitted, and any question left unanswered when the timer runs out counts as wrong. Afterwards you can review every question with your answer, the correct answer, and the explanation.

You can retake it as often as you like, and each attempt is a new random set.

Does the mock exam match the real exam exactly?

No. It is DriveTrain's own timed simulation, designed to build exam stamina and reveal weak spots. Check the current official examination format with the relevant authority.

Does passing a mock exam mean I will pass the real one?

No. Nothing in the app can predict or guarantee an examination result. A good mock score means you know the material in this question bank; the official exam is set and marked by the examining authority.

What is the Top 40 Challenge?

Forty questions drawn at random from all 800 — a quick, unpredictable run through the bank. It is part of a subscription.

Does it remember my mistakes?

Yes, automatically. Any question you answer incorrectly joins the Review Mistakes list and leaves it as soon as you answer it correctly. A live counter shows how many are outstanding.

Can I save questions to come back to?

Yes — tap the bookmark icon on any question. Bookmarked Questions is its own practice mode, and it is free.

Can I resume a half-finished paper?

Not as a session — reopening a paper starts a fresh run. Individual answers you already gave are saved and still count toward your statistics and your mistake list.

Progress

What does DriveTrain track?

Which questions you have mastered — meaning your most recent answer was correct — which you are still getting wrong, how many of the 800 you have attempted, your overall accuracy, the pass or fail status of each of the 40 papers, and your mock exam history: attempts, passes, average score, and best score.

Why does a paper still show grey after I answered some questions?

A paper only turns green or red once you have answered at least ten of its questions. Below that it stays grey.

Can I delete my progress?

Yes — Settings → Reset App erases all progress, bookmarks, and settings. It cannot be undone. Uninstalling also removes everything from the device.

Does my progress sync between devices?

No. There is no account and no progress server, so progress stays on the device it was made on.

Pricing and subscriptions

Is DriveTrain free?

There is a substantial free tier: all 40 papers and all 800 questions, both languages, all explanations, bookmarks, mistake review, and all statistics — unlimited. A subscription adds three modes: Mock Exam, Top 40 Challenge, and Full Practice.

What does a subscription cost?

Three lengths are offered: one week, one month, or one year, each unlocking the same three modes. Prices are set by the App Store and Google Play and vary by country, so the current plans are shown in the app before you buy.

Can I restore a subscription on a new device?

Yes — "Restore Purchases" on the upgrade screen recovers a subscription bought with the same store account.

How do I cancel?

Through your App Store subscription settings. The app's Settings screen links there directly.

Are there ads?

No. DriveTrain contains no advertising.

Privacy and platforms

Does it work offline?

Yes. All 800 questions, both languages, all explanations, and all images are installed with the app. Studying, mock exams, and statistics need no internet connection. A connection is only needed to subscribe or restore a subscription.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no registration, no login, and no email required. Open the app and start studying.

What data does DriveTrain collect?

Your study progress — answers, bookmarks, sessions, and statistics — is stored on your device; there is no DriveTrain account and no progress server. The app collects anonymous usage analytics, including device identifiers, to understand how it is used and improve it. No name, email address, phone number, or location is collected.

Full details are in the privacy policy.

Which platforms is it available on?

Both. On the App Store it is listed as "Drive-Train" and runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac with an M1 chip or later, and Apple Vision, requiring iOS 16.0 or later. On Google Play it is listed as "DriveTrain" and requires Android 7.0 or later. Both are free to download.

Does a subscription bought on one platform work on the other?

No. There is no DriveTrain account, so a subscription stays with the store account that bought it. "Restore Purchases" recovers it on another device signed in to the same store.

Which languages does the Android interface come in?

English, Russian, and Korean, following your device language. The questions themselves exist only in English and Russian, so a Korean interface still shows the question bank in one of those two.

Is DriveTrain connected to the GIBDD or any government body?

No. DriveTrain is an independent study app with no affiliation to, endorsement by, or connection with any government body, road-safety authority, or examining organization.

Still need help?

Support is one person and one email address, which is usually faster than it sounds.
